The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are investigating the death of two high school students in Taguig City. The two students, both female, were found dead inside the Signal Village National High School on Friday, November 10, 2023.
DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa said that the agency is "immensely saddened" by the incident and is committed to assisting in the investigation. He added that DepEd has already deployed a team of psychologists and counselors to provide support to the students and staff of Signal Village National High School.
The PNP is still investigating the cause of the deaths, but initial reports indicate that there was no foul play involved. The two students were found hanging inside the school's Girl Scout Mini Office.
Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano has also expressed her condolences to the families of the victims. She said that the city government is also providing assistance to the families and is coordinating with the DepEd and the PNP in the investigation.
